We’re getting students ready for the challenges of life — whether it’s college, career, or chasing big dreams — and real-world career mentoring and internships set them up for the kind of success nothing else can.

A life changing partnership.

When your business partners with AIME, you offer AUHSD students the essential real-world experiences that transform abstract ideas into tangible skills. By providing career mentoring and internships, your business can not only help young minds navigate their way forward, but also build a stronger, more resilient community.

  • Teachers will learn about an industry, as well as strategies for integrating project-based learning to help students tackle real-world challenges in the classroom.
  • Post-job shadow teachers will work with their colleagues to develop a project that will help students practice the soft and hard skills that the teachers observed in the workplace, as well as to explore the challenges faced in that industry.

Full-spectrum thinking.

We believe the 5 Cs — Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Character — are non-negotiable 21st century skills that every student needs to cultivate. By introducing students to potential career opportunities, we give them the chance to learn critical technical skills, advancing their career and hireability before they’ve even graduated. We also know teachers are one of the most influential forces in a student’s life. Our externship program gives educators the chance to experience your business first-hand so they can apply their learning directly to their curriculum.

The AIME participation model.

Businesses enjoy a seamless participation model, where they can choose a level of engagement: from mentoring to philanthropy to advising on curriculum, to partnering with AUHSD on program development.

Our Flagship Program: The AIME summer internship.

Our flagship program is a transformative experience. Your business will host two or more AUHSD juniors to intern for 15-20 hours per week for six weeks. Each Friday they will attend a career readiness workshop, meeting with their internship coordinator to assess, examine, and actively reflect on their experience in real time to ensure they’re offering and learning everything they can.
